Safety and security is our top priority in Ardmore City Schools, and we are always evaluating and implementing new ways to keep our students and staff safe.
Starting tomorrow, September 25,2024, Ardmore City Schools will pilot the use of metal detectors at Ardmore High School and athletic events. Once this pilot has been successfully completed, ACS will continue to use metal detectors daily at the high school and move forward with using them at all secondary buildings in the district.
The metal detectors limit certain prohibited items from being brought on campus and into athletic events. In addition to prohibited items, the metal detectors also pick up instruments, tools or other metal objects.
To keep the line moving quickly and efficiently, students and/or guests should not bring any items to school that they don’t need, and inform staff or our SRO of any objects that may trigger the metal detectors. This will help ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible and students get to class on time or into the event quickly.
